The Crime Scene Management Division is the bridge between the field and the laboratory. It’s not just “evidence collection” — it’s a scientific discipline that controls quality from incident to courtroom. The CSMD ensures that physical evidence is located, documented, preserved, and transferred under conditions that maintain scientific integrity and legal admissibility. It is the lab’s external quality control arm. Scene of crime examination is a foundational step in criminal investigations, preserving vital evidence that links suspects to the crime. It ensures objective proof reaches forensic labs, supporting convictions and justice.

Crime scene investigators maintain chain of custody for making evidence admissible in court. Analysis identifies modus operandi, links serial crimes, corroborates witness statements, and eliminates false suspects. In death cases, it provides insights into body position, weapons, and struggle signs, boosting conviction rates. Meticulous work builds robust prosecutorial cases by supplying forensic links like trace evidence or biological samples. Without it, investigations falter, as unprocessed scenes yield no usable proof.
